Discovering it and enjoying it is priceless!<br \/>\n<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>For many it is tradition and it is lucky for the whole year to go to <strong>Tabarca Island<\/strong> at least once every summer. For everyone, it is a true paradise. This small archipelago located 22 km from the city of Alicante and 8 km from the Port of Santa Pola (and just over 4,300 meters from Cape Santa Pola), is formed by the main island that is called Nueva Tabarca, or Plana o elongated Santa Pola, and the islets of La Cantera, La Galera and La Nao, along with numerous reefs.<\/p>\n<p>As a refuge for a wealth of spectacular marine fauna and flora, in 1986 <strong>Tabarca Island Marine Reserve<\/strong> was declared, the first Marine Reserve in Spain. Its transparent waters are a true paradise for lovers of snorkeling and scuba diving, and due to its protection they are not contaminated, so its seabed is an excellent enclave for the development of protected flora and fauna ecosystems.<\/p>\n<p>Strolling around the entire Island, declared a Historic-Artistic Site in 1964, is a delight for the 5 senses. Visit its wall, the Church of San Pedro and San Pablo, the Governor&#8217;s House, enjoy its small and charming town of low houses and with that unique essence, the Torre de San Jos\u00e9 and its peculiar and beautiful Lighthouse, are some of the proposals on this special island.
