The Pe\u00f1\u00f3n de Ifach<\/strong> (Penyal d’Ifac in Valencian) is a huge limestone massif of 332 meters high that is located off the coast of Calpe, in the Marina Alta<\/strong> region of the province of Alicante.<\/p>\n

This huge rock has a very unique place as a natural site, which is why, in 1987, it was declared a Natural Park by the Generalitat Valenciana<\/strong>. And with only 50 hectares of extension and 1 km in length, it is the smallest Natural Park in the community and one of the smallest in Europe. However, given its location in a spectacular and highly visited tourist area, it registers more than 100,000 visits a year, so as of 2020 it has a limited capacity and visitors should plan the visit ahead of time and register to make the red route of the Natural Park that is the one that leads to the top.<\/p>\n

This hiking route<\/strong> to the top of the Rock is one of the most popular on the Alicante coast and is absolutely unmissable, since its views are one of the most beautiful on the entire coastline of the province.<\/p>\n

As a natural place, its flora and fauna<\/strong> are of great importance and even more its conservation. As for the flora, it presents endemic rupicured vegetation such as silene de Ifach<\/a>, thyme<\/a>, rock scabious<\/a> and Valencian horseshoe<\/a>. And, as for its fauna, it is a refuge for shag birds<\/a>, the yellow-legged gull<\/a>, the gannet<\/a>, Eleonora’s falcon<\/a>, the peregrine falcon<\/a> and the pale swift<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Last but not least, Pe\u00f1\u00f3n de Ifach is also an ideal place for climbing<\/strong>, travelers. It has more than 40 climbing routes<\/strong> for rock climbing\u2019s lovers. Consider this option as one of your sports spots in Alicante\u2018s province.<\/p>\n
