No doubt, our coast has many corners to know and enjoy for days. And one of them is Santa Pola, which today I invite you to get to know a little more.

Located on the coast of the province of Alicante, in the Bajo Vinalopó region, Santa Pola is an attractive, lively city with a lot to explore. Its 13 kilometers of coastline with incredible blue flag beaches, its historical remains, its natural landscapes, its excellent gastronomy and its port, among many other attractions, have made this town an ideal destination for a getaway, vacation or for visit it if you are traveling through Alicante.

If you are in Santa Pola, you should not miss:

  • El Castillo – Fortress of Santa Pola, built in 1557 by order of the Viceroy of Valencia and Lord of Elche, for the protection and defense of sailors against the attacks of pirates and corsairs that stalked the entire Levant coast.
  • The Watch Towers, which also served as coastal surveillance in those years: Torre de Tamarit, Torre de Escaletes, Torre de la Atalayola, Torre del Carabassí.
  • The Santa Pola Lighthouse, which is located in Cabo de Santa Pola, and whose viewpoint is one of the most spectacular on the entire Alicante coast. The views are unsurpassed and seeing the Island of Tabarca is priceless.
  • The Port and the Yatch Club, of great importance in the city and with a lot of activity, given the importance of fishing, and water sports.
  • Salinas de Santa Pola Natural Park: with an area of 2470 ha, this natural park is a must on your visit to the city.
  • Museums: Sea, Fishing, Salt, and the Municipal Aquarium, are some of the recommended visits for the entire family.

And if you are in Santa Pola, travelers, don’t forget to enjoy the exquisite cousine of this city, which is an authentic wonder. Some of its traditional dishes are: arroz a banda and black rice, stews, grouper gazpacho, lobster stew and the typical cauldron.
